Dennis Pethers visits Seoul, South Korea

Our International Pioneer, Dennis Pethers, has just been visiting Seoul, South Korea.

He went to Lotte World Tower where John Whaley, The Rooftop Pioneer in the US, led a Rooftop Encounter in 2018.

We now have a coordinator for The Rooftop in Seoul and made great progress for an Encounter in Seoul as part of the GLOBAL ENCOUNTER on 10.10.2020.

The next stop for Dennis is Tokyo, Japan.

Latino Leaders Training – US

John Whaley, The Rooftop Pioneer US, writes:

On Saturday, August 24, I had the opportunity to introduce The Rooftop Core Materials and Process to a group of Latino pastors and leaders in Hickory, NC. This is a group being equipped to plant Latino churches in the Hickory area by Miguel and Silvia Lopez who led a church planting movement in Cuba before coming to the States. In a few weeks, we will begin meeting weekly to walk through The Rooftop Process together. Pray for these leaders and for The Rooftop as we continue developing relationships with Latino leaders in North, South, and Central America.

The 2019 Dallas Rooftop City Encounter – by John Whaley

On Monday, May 6, the first Dallas Rooftop City Encounter took place at the Baylor Medical Center in downtown Dallas. Sponsored by the Dallas Baptist Association, over 60 pastors and leaders met to seek God for a fresh vision of His heart for their city. Following the time of prayer, they shared with each other how God had spoken into each of their lives. God’s presence was evident as they sought God’s face in prayer and encouraged one another in joining Jesus where He is already at work in their communities. Following the Encounter, I had the opportunity to meet with several leaders about our new coaching opportunity for pastors led by Dennis Pethers. It was an amazing day and plans are being discussed for future Dallas Encounters.

The 2019 Chicago Rooftop Encounter – by John Whaley

On Sunday, May 19, the 3rd Chicago Rooftop Encounter took place on the 99th floor of the Willis Tower. This year’s Rooftop Encounter was led by one of our Rooftop US Board Members, Cheryl Dorsey. Over 60 Christians came to seek God for a fresh perspective of their city including several pastors and the Chief Chaplain of the Chicago Police Department. God is at work in Chicago and the Rooftop Encounter is one of several ways prayer is covering the city as God’s people seek to Join Jesus in His Mission!

Washington D.C. Rooftop Encounter – by John Whaley

On Monday, April 29, the 2019 Rooftop City Encounter in Washington, D.C. took place. This year was our second Rooftop City Encounter in our nation’s Capital and God provided one of the best venues in the city for the Encounter – The Rooftop Terrace at Charlie Palmer Steak. This year’s Encounter was also special because it was in conjunction with the National Bible Reading Marathon at the U.S. Capitol. Therefore, as we prayed over the city, the Word of God was being read aloud from the Capitol steps. As they prayed, God clearly impressed on several the need for spiritual awakening in the church and across our nation; for God’s people to be a holy people, living as salt and light in our culture. It was a compelling moment as God reminded us once again of our calling to go and engage those around us with the Gospel.

Open Doors in Kentucky and Ohio

On Saturday, March 9, The Rooftop International Council will be meeting in Northern Kentucky. Prior to their meeting, Dennis Pethers and John Whaley will be at a conference on Spiritual Awakening hosted by the Northern Kentucky Baptist Association. They will also be at a Kentucky Statewide Leaders Gathering on Monday, March 11. At both gatherings, Dennis will be speaking about our great need for spiritual awakening in the church resulting in the Church moving beyond the walls to engage the lost and make disciples. We will also be connecting with leaders about Rooftop Encounters in Louisville and Lexington later this year.
In addition to the doors God is opening in Kentucky, we have also had the opportunity to connect with leaders in Ohio. At the present, plans are being discussed for a Cincinnati Rooftop Encounter with the possibility of Rooftop Encounters in Cleveland and Columbus.

God is at work in Arizona!

On April 14-24, Dennis Pethers and John Whaley will be in Arizona meeting with pastors and leaders as plans are being made for future Rooftop Encounters in Phoenix and Tucson. Over the past few years, we have had the opportunity to lead Rooftop Encounters in both cities with various groups. These past Encounters have set the stage for Rooftop City Encounters in 2019. Arizona is a challenging mission field. The majority of those who live in the state do not know Jesus and don’t know they don’t know Jesus. It is also a mission field with churches who desire to seek the heart of God for their cities and ‘Join Jesus in His Mission’ to seek and save the lost.

We are returning to Chicago on May 19 2019

On Sunday, May 19, we will be returning to the Willis Tower (Sears Tower) in Chicago for our 3rd Chicago Rooftop Encounter. Cheryl Dorsey, who serves on The Rooftop US Board, is coordinating all the details in partnership with the Chicago Metro Baptist Association, Chicago United in Prayer, and other ministries across Chicagoland. During the past two Chicago Rooftop Encounters, God met with us powerfully and we are anticipating another great Rooftop Encounter as we pursue the heart of God for Chicago! In spite of all you hear on the news about Chicago, God is at work through His people as churches and ministries are uniting to pray together, care together, and share the Good News together across Chicagoland!

Dallas Rooftop Encounter – May 6 2019

On Monday, May 6, we will be partnering with the Dallas Baptist Association (DBA) in Dallas, Texas for our first Dallas Rooftop Encounter. This will be the first of what could be three Rooftop Encounters this year in Dallas. We are presently speaking with two other ministries who desire to host Rooftop Encounters this Fall. Plans are already being discussed to bring the DBA and these other ministries together for a joint Rooftop Encounter in 2020. Plans are also being made for our National Pioneer, John Whaley, to meet w
