Four met Jesus on a hill
29th July 2021
It is not everyday that the Rooftop International Pioneer, a National Pioneer, Regional Coordinator, and local Ambassador, come together for a Rooftop Encounter. However, that’s what happened today, 29th July 2021, when Dennis Pether’s, David Gilbey, Dave Cotterill and Phil Hannam met.
By the standard of many others in the UK, Essex is a fairly flat County, but gently rising above the City of Chelmsford, which is in a valley, where two rivers combine, is the village of Danbury. On Danbury Hill there is a war memorial, a views across part of the City which spreads out below.
It was a remarkable time of stopping, looking, listening and discerning the Heart of God for our City and beyond to the Nation and Nations. The shadow cast by the adjacent war memorial, in the shape of a cross was incredibly significant. It seemed as if Jesus was pointing the way for us and our thoughts.
Although Chelmsford was definitely below where we stood, it was amazing that as the sun gradually rose behind us and the intensity of its light increased, the Cityscape came out of shadow and gave the illusion of ‘rising up’ to be almost level with us!
Many years before, UK Pioneer David Gilbey reflected that The Lord had given him a vision of Chelmsford becoming a ‘City on a Hill’ for the Kingdom of God! We observed the wind blowing in the trees, and knew that The presence and power of The Holy Spirit was blowing across our City.
As on all Rooftop Encounters, we read Acts 10, the story of Peter on the rooftop, the powerful story of Supernatural events that caused the Gospel of Jesus Christ to travel outside ‘the walls’ of its Jewish beginnings, to the Gentiles, across the world.
We all reflected on how Jesus was already ‘on mission’ in the City and how we could further join in, both for Chelmsford and to see The Kingdom of God come to the towns and cities of our nation and of the nations.
