Friends of Jesus Uganda

An update from Richard Tumwesigye in Uganda:  Mr.Didas Mwesigye the acting Chairman for the Rooftop Uganda addressing the first team of the Friends of Jesus Ladies at the house today. I am happy to announce that we have three ladies at the house so far and we believe God for more to Join soon. Keep us in your prayers??????

‘Friends of Jesus’ House

These are pictures of a property in Kampala that we are praying God will make available to us to use as home for a number of prostitutes and their children who are coming to faith in Christ through The Rooftop Care and Share initiative. These ladies are longing to change their lifestyle but need to be able to provide for their children. ‘Friends of Jesus’ House will provide them with a place to live and the opportunity to learn new skills which will enable them to find new employment.

Hope finds Hope in Kampala.

This is Hope Akiibu, one of four ladies who gave their lives to Christ as a result of The Rooftop Care and Share outreach in Kampala.

The circumstances of Hope’s life have meant that she has become a prostitute but now that she has become a follower of Jesus, she wants to change. This is a challenge as Hope has children that she needs to feed and clothe! Richard Tumwesigye, The Rooftop National Pioneer in Uganda is looking into ways of providing a home for Hope, and others, where they can learn new skills and be helped to find other ways of generating the income they need as they seek to follow Jesus.  The House will be called ‘Friends of Jesus’ House.

Friends of Jesus

Dennis Pethers writes:

‘This picture was taken during my most recent visit to Uganda. I was privileged to speak to a group of prostitutes who are being reached through The Rooftop Care and Share initiative “Friends of Jesus”.

Just the other day, I received a message from Richard, our National Pioneer in Uganda — it thrilled my heart:

“We were overjoyed today at “Friends of Jesus” fellowship under Care and Share initiative when four ladies gave their lives to Christ. Two of them brought their drugs and witchcraft for burning. Victory belongs to Jesus!”

We are praying that Friends of Jesus will spread and more and more people who are ‘beyond the walls of the church’ will come to know God’s forgiveness and free gift of eternal life.

Jesus – Friend of Sinners!

Richard Tumwesigye recently updated from Uganda on Facebook:

In Matthew 9:9-13, we see Jesus eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners. There has been a burden on my heart to start a rehabilitation home where we can care and share with the children of these friends of Jesus; the ladies, who earn their bread as commercial prostitutes, that we, as The Rooftop , reach out to with the gospel and love of Jesus in partnership with Teen Challenge and Freedom Centre Cathedral. Every time we meet with these ladies, my heart melts for these little ones. Their mothers do this commercial prostitution in the same houses they share with their children. Imagine what these little ones are exposed to at an early stage! They are being raised in unhealthy and immoral environment. I trust we can do something practically through the ministry of Jesus Christ.

I strongly believe that, if these children are a given the opportunity to be raised in good and healthy environment, they can become great women and men of God. I have shared this idea with their mothers who are more than ready to entrust them to us and even partner with us where possible to raise them as God desires. If you feel touched to be part of this project. Please inbox me. God bless you.

“Casting the vision and mission of The Rooftop International Ministries to the pastors and leaders in Mbarara Western Uganda. It was a success. Thank you Pr. Bukenya Everest and Kigula Daniel Pastor for the mobilisation. Victory belongs to Jesus!!
